Over the last years a problem for many parents has become, online behavior of their kids. Do I have to give a child a mobile phone? What does my child do on social media? How can I control his/her behavior? These are questions that parents have about the behavior of their children online.
Communication and the way we communicate have changed a lot in recent years. Social Media has had an impact on the entire society. Children and youngsters have also experienced it. However, they are raised in this form of communication, it is normal for them.

Social Media is used for good things, such as education, entrepreneurship, leisure activities, etc. On the other hand, there are also dangerous and risky activities that take place on social media. Think of Sexting, Cyber Bullying, Grooming, Child Pornography, Catfish and so on.

What could be the best solution? Prohibit or set rules? Usually when the behavior is banned, the children and youngsters will secretly do it anyway. So it would be better to teach the children how to deal with social media. What the standards are, how they can protect their privacy, that they must respect copyright, etc.

It would also be good to come to an agreement with your child as a parent. It would be good to agree that you as a parent will monitor his / her online behavior and that he / she will keep you informed about his / her online behavior.
